Also, you can only scale down and cannot upscale a 720p canvas to a 1080p stream. If you wish to stream at the same resolution as your Base (Canvas) Resolution, simply uncheck this box. Use a different filter, either Bicubic or Bilinear, although evidence suggests Bicubic is also bugged. OBS will take your Base (Canvas) Resolution, filter it using your selected Downscale Filter, and then rescale it based on your select Rescale Output setting. You can see that the currently implemented Lanczos filter is not getting rid of aliasing, but is actually creating that stair step effect. This occurred to me and a few others, and after some tinkering, some awesome community members came up with a version much closer to what the actual filter is supposed to look like. Launch Hogwarts Legacy, and select it as the game capture source.

The issue lies in the math of the filter. Video: Choose video resolution, output resolution, downscale filter, etc. The Lanczos downscale filter in OBS and OBS Studio is currently bugged. The answer to that is that A: The best filter is a subjective opinion, and different games may look better with different filters, and B: So you're probably thinking "ok, how is that possible, it's the best filter, right? 36 samples and all."
